Pimples are irritating. They are one of the worst nightmares for a woman. And pimple scars? They are like death . . . of beauty.
Tons of confidence won’t do what just five things for skin care can do.
The First Thing
Cinnamon, a common spice in the kitchen, can now give you good skin. Never imagined it, right? Cinnamon’s essential oil possesses a powerful antimicrobial property. Honey has low water activity, so it contains less moisture, which discourages microbe growth. Dermatologists say that pimples erupt from skin pore infections. So, combining honey with cinnamon is a smart way to curb pimples.
Do this: Mix some drops of honey into cinnamon powder, and make a paste. Please don’t add water. Dab some paste on the pimples and let it stay overnight. Wash your face the next morning with lukewarm water.
The Second Thing
Lemon can be your best friend when it comes to killing pimples. It has phytonutrients, known as flavonoids, and Vitamin C. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants and exhibit strong antibiotic action. They prohibit the action of free radicals. Skin experts love lemons when it comes to acne-prone skin care.
Do this: Dab some fresh lemon juice directly on the pimple. Let it stay overnight. Wash it off the next morning.
Mix one tablespoon of groundnut oil in the same amount of fresh lemon juice. Apply the mixture all over your face. This is a preventive measure against pimples. This also works on blackheads.
Expert comment: Please do not venture out in the sun immediately after applying lemon juice on your face as the juice can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
The Third Thing
Try tomatoes. They possess an acidic nature. Tomato pulp dries up pimples and tightens skin pores. This decreases pore blockage. Tomatoes are loaded with antioxidants. They decrease damage and inflammation of the skin.
Do this: Take the freshly squeezed pulp of a tomato, and apply it directly on the pimple. Do this just once a day as it can be drying to the skin. In case you feel excessive drying or irritation on skin, add some water to the pulp to dilute its acidity, and then apply it.
The Fourth Thing
Good old turmeric, which is famous in India for healing wounds, can be an excellent remedy for skin care. Medical experts have established its healing properties. According to them, it contains elements that give turmeric a strong antimicrobial quality.
Consumption and application of turmeric help to keep your skin healthy and flawless. Don’t believe it? Ask your Indian friends!
This is what you can do with turmeric:
- Apply a little bit of turmeric directly on the skin by forming a paste with rosewater.
- Mix a pinch of turmeric powder in warm milk, and gulp it down. It heals skin infections from the inside. You can even eat raw turmeric slices as salad. It purifies the blood, which in turn, improves your skin health.
- Make a paste of a little turmeric powder and coconut oil. Apply it directly on your pimple, and leave it overnight. Wash it off with water.
- Take some ground, dried Neem leaves, and make a paste by adding equal quantities of turmeric powder and rosewater to it. Apply it on your pimples. Let it stay for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off with water. You can replace Neem powder with sandalwood powder. Where Neem has antimicrobial properties, sandalwood has a soothing effect on the face.
The Fifth Thing
This is for those nasty pimple scars. Again, sandalwood is the best choice, say experts.
Do this: Soak a sandalwood piece in water for several hours. Take the piece out, dry it, and store it. You can reuse it. Now, take a swab of cotton, and dip it in the sandalwood water. Smear it on your pimple scars. Repeat this daily for a week or two. You will notice a difference in your complexion.
You also can make a paste of sandalwood and rosewater. Apply it on acne scars, and let them stay overnight. Wash your face with cold water the next morning.
There is no end to home remedies for skin care, especially skin that is prone to pimples and damaged by scars. Pick a remedy that works best on your skin. Dermatologists are of the view that elements lying on your kitchen shelves are safer and more effective than those lying on market shelves. This may not be a hard and fast rule, but home remedies do work. Try them. What you will get is better-looking skin in the end.
